They are laser cut from cardboard. These stencils are lightweight but very durable. Hardier than oil board. Lighter than plastics. 

I have been painting parking lot for 30 years and find cardboard the easiest material to work with. 

Generally I spray stencil 4-5 times, let dry and reuse. I get +/- 20 copies from 1 stencil. 

Unlike plastic stencils, paint absorbs into cardboard and hardens. Makes stencil stiffer and does not flake off.  

Paint on plastic stencils dries, flakes off and makes mess. Plastic is more durable. 

But if you are not painting everyday they are a storage problem.

Give these a try if you only need to make a few copies. I am sure they will serve their purpose!
