** RARE WALL HANGING MATCH HOLDER **

circa: 1891

 Estate purchase.

Measures 4 1/4  tall and 4 1/8 inch wide.

Believed to be the creation of Challinor Taylor & Co in 1891 according to the Victorian Glass Novelties by Sanford.

This item has several seam marks and some rough seam edges along the grapes

The backside of the item is textured as a leaf with veins and a stippled-like pattern.

The outside perimeter is beveled on the back top portion and all along the front edge. There is edge that is not crisp out of the mold. It appears that the glass didn't fill in for a sharp corner rather than a chip to the corner.

There are striations in the glass as shown in picture 7.  There is also a stress line in the interior of the glass. It cannot be felt and from so views it is unseen.

The hole for hanging is wider in the back growing narrower in the front.
