Vitcas Heat Resistant Tile Adhesive 5kg

Model: VITCAS-HRTA-5KG

Fix tiles securely in high-temperature areas with Vitcas Heat Resistant Tile Adhesive 5kg. This ready-mixed adhesive provides excellent bonding where ordinary tile adhesives may fail due to long-term exposure to heat.

Vitcas HRTA withstands temperatures up to 1000°C. Therefore, it is ideal for suitable tiles around fire surrounds, boilers, ranges, cookers and radiators. The ready-to-use paste also removes the need for on-site mixing.

Vitcas Heat Resistant Tile Adhesive Specification

Please note: Coverage figures provide a guide only. The actual coverage will vary depending on the surface condition, tile type, application method and finished adhesive thickness.

Suitable Applications

Use Vitcas Heat Resistant Tile Adhesive for fixing compatible tiles in areas exposed to higher temperatures than standard tile adhesive can withstand. Typical applications include:

Please note: The adhesive does not provide structural support. Therefore, you must physically support heavy stone, granite, marble or slate until the installation can safely carry its weight.

Thin-Bed Application

Vitcas HRTA works best as a thin-bed adhesive with a finished thickness of approximately 3mm. This thin application helps create a secure bond while preventing replacement tiles from standing proud of the surrounding surface.

If the wall is uneven or requires a bed thicker than 3mm, use a suitable product such as Vitcas HB60 rather than building up a thick layer of HRTA.

Surface Preparation

  1. First, make sure the surface is cool, clean, dry and free from dust.
  2. Remove grease, loose material, old adhesive and other contamination.
  3. Check that the surface is sound and suitable for tiling.
  4. Seal fresh cement or plaster with Vitcas PVA Adhesive Sealer.
  5. Seal the back of porous tiles, marble, granite or slate with Vitcas PVA Adhesive Sealer.
  6. Allow the sealer to dry according to its application instructions.

Correct preparation is important because fresh or porous surfaces can draw moisture from the adhesive. As a result, an unsealed surface may weaken the final bond.

How to Apply Vitcas HRTA

  1. Make sure the tiled area and any nearby appliance are completely cold.
  2. Stir the contents of the tub thoroughly to create a smooth, even paste.
  3. Apply the adhesive evenly to the prepared wall.
  4. Comb the adhesive with a suitable 6mm tile comb.
  5. Press the tiles firmly into position to create an adhesive bed of approximately 3mm.
  6. Adjust the tiles while the adhesive remains workable.
  7. Physically support heavy materials where necessary.
  8. Remove surplus adhesive immediately with a clean, damp cloth.
  9. Allow the adhesive to cure before exposing the area to heat.

Drying and Curing

Allow approximately 24 hours for the adhesive to cure under suitable conditions. However, the exact curing time can vary depending on temperature, humidity, surface porosity, tile type and adhesive thickness.

Allow the adhesive to cure fully before exposing the tiled area to normal operating temperatures. Always follow the application and curing instructions shown on the product packaging.

Not Suitable for Grouting

Do not use Vitcas HRTA as a tile grout. Once the adhesive has cured, use a compatible product such as Vitcas Heat Resistant Tile Grout to finish the joints between the tiles.
