Neville Mariners fantastic working of many of the best from the genius that was Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Recorded at St Martin'sin the Field this is a superb introduction to Mozart and a wonderful keepsake for all who enjoy his amazing music.

This soundtrack from Amadeus is a joy to listen to. It touches the gorgeous and most notable music of Mozart. Of course
The Academy of St. Martin's in the Field can be counted on to be an impeccable recording with the finest interpretation.
I love listening over and over as the way this CD is put together keeps your interest with a lot of variety. On the top of my list of all-time favorites.

The original sountrack recording (CD) of "Amadeus" has been such a favourite at our house that I buy it for friends and relatives, and now that my daughters have their own homes, each of them has it and play it over and over-- it's Mozart at his finest (not too "overly" anything, like some classical CDs!) .. a little bit of the best of Mozart! My 4-year-old grandson listens to it regularly and hums along - what a wonderful introduction to classical music!

It's very good. Of course, now and then, just just just, now and then, it seems a touch – uh, well I mean, occasionally, it seems to have... oh how should one say? How shall one say, Director?
"Too many notes, Your Majesty."
Too many notes. There are, in fact, only so many notes the ear can hear in the course of an evening. I think I'm right in saying that, aren't I, Court Composer?
"Yes, yes, on the whole. Yes, Majesty."
My dear young man, don't take it too hard. Your work is ingenious; it's quality work. And there are simply too many notes. That's all. Just cut a few and it will be perfect.

This album can highly be treated as a "Highlight" CD for Mozart. Sir Neville Marriner has always been one of the best to interpret Mozart's music and this has been no exception (good decision from Milos Foreman). Renditions are excellent and Sir Marriner's choice of tempo makes them sound better and more fulfilling. These Mozart performances are simply the best I have ever heard.

So, having listened to what is considered to represent the best recordings of the 2nd movement of Mozart's Concerto in D minor (K 466) Romanza (e.g., Malcolm Bilson, etc.) over the last several years, this edition (even as the "Original Soundtrack Recording") is clearly the definitive rendition. Everyone else is either playing this work far too quickly or just trying to get the notes right in a technical sterility (at the expense of beauty, art and the poetry of the moment). If you have any love of WAM - get this CD. I believe it will be judged (over the next hundred years) to be the ultimate work by Mozart, and (perhaps) this recording will be still reign as the ultimate interpretation.
