ARTIFACT: Wonderful pair of Boston Public Schools' "City Medal" in silver, both boys and girls style and awarded to siblings William & Jennie Reid in 1859 & 1860. The boy style depicts a large, raised bust of Franklin and reads: "THE GIFT OF FRANKLIN MDCCXC" and awarded and engraved to William Reid in 1859. His sister's medal depicts the cityscape and port of Boston in beautiful detail, below dated 1921, the reverse is engraved to Jennie Reid, dated 1860. Both medals read: "F.N. MITCHELL FEC" at base.
VINTAGE: Circa 1859-60.
SIZE: About 1-3/8” in width by 1-1/2” in height, each.
CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS: Silver.
ATTACHMENT: Both have loop for ribbon/chain/string.
