Ani DiFranco is a Grammy Award winning singer, guitarist, and songwriter. She is a widely celebrated feminist icon and is a prolific artist having released nineteen albums. In 1989 Ani started her own record company called "Righteous Records" which was later renamed to "Righteous Babe Records" in 1994. On July 21, 2006 Ani DiFranco received the "Woman of Courage Award" at the National Organization for Women. Ani's albums have been classified as both folk rock and alternative rock music. Ani has been nominated for a Grammy 4 times since 2003 and she took the award in 2004 for her album Evolve.
