Beautifully refinished antique solid maple 3-compartment pencil box. Box measures 7 7/8" long x 2 1/2" deep x 1 3/8" tall. Original hinges and catch. Refinished with several coats of MinWax Satin Varnish and hand-polished with 0000 steel wool and paste-wax to a soft luster. Excellent condition. All joints are solid. No cracks, scratches or splits in the wood. Silicone feet protect bottom and improve handling. Catch is missing a small lip so it doesn't lock. It's marked "CT Patented July 28, 1896". Inscription on inside of lid indicated it was gifted in 1901.
