Shimano 600 Tri Color 6400 Vintage Groupset 7 Speed For Sale (Ultegra/Dura Ace)

Installed from new on the vintage Trek as shown - so you can see how little use the whole bike has had - the Shimano components will be meticulously and carefully removed and individually wrapped for shipping.

This listing is for the 6400 groupset only - if you want it be quick as it’s also for sale as a complete bike on my other listings and is first come first served - if the bike sells this listing will be ended (and vice versa).

One of the most loved late 1980’s/early 1990’s groups in hardly used excellent condition... really minimal miles, removed from a bike that has barely been ridden since new.

There are some minor marks here and there as shown, but short of getting NOS or unridden take offs - you are unlikely to find a better 6400 groupset than this.

Golden era Shimano, made in Japan, almost identical to the 7-speed Dura-Ace in function and design, but with a more protective, more durable, better age-resistant silver-gray finish.

Included is ONLY the following (this listing is for these enumerated groupset items, see my other listings if you want to buy the whole bike!):

1. FC 6400, 53/42, Biopace, 175mm, JIS square taper. Threads and tapers perfect (has only been installed and removed ONCE, was used with correct JIS taper BB only). Arms excellent, some minor rub marks/scratches. 7 speed chainrings in very good condition

2. RD 6400, 7 speed, SIS, Integrated, excellent condition

3. SL 6400, 2 x 7 speed, excellent condition, working beautifully, positive clicks both up and down, SIS Indexed and Friction modes for rear shifting

4. BL 6401, aero, SLR. The levers have some scratches, white hoods in good shape but could use a freshen up with some rubber treatment due to age

5. BR 6400 brakeset, 49mm version, excellent condition, original pads in great shape too. These have superb tire clearance and can run with modern wide rims and most 30mm tires

6. Freewheel, 7-speed

7. Rare matching Shimano 600 UG Narrow 7-speed chain in the premium bright silver (nickel?) finish

Also, as a gesture of goodwill (they may or may not be useful to you) included for FREE is the following:

1. Brake and gear cables, inners and outers, hardly used and in old but probably useable condition. These were run with the groupset on a 60cm Trek road race frame so are very long and should fit most bikes.

2. Selection of free cable ferrules

I have the matching 6400 hubs & skewers from this groupset, in a built up wheelset, in the same matching, hardly used condition. They’re in the perfect 32h front and stronger 36h rear combination, laced to Matrix USA dark gray hard anodized rims with zero wear and silver Sapim/DT straight gauge stainless spokes and silver brass nipples. They also include the 25c tires and tubes.

These are just $150 extra when buying the groupset but do note that shipping cost will increase substantially due to the size of box required for the wheels. The hubs are 100/130mm OLN. See my other listing showing the complete bike for full details and pictures.

Note: the front mech was an older Campy one carried over from a previous build which you are welcome to have for free if you want it - of course a Shimano 600 Tricolor FD 6400 would be the correct one and easy enough to source to suit your frame (band on or braze on types). The Campy one I used is braze-on fitting - drop me a note before buying if you want it included.
