Exact item shown. Tested NoiseCom NC2501-T 1 MHz to 1 GHz broadband noise source mounted on a custom RF test board with an integral 2-stage RF amplifier chain. The assembly operates from +15 VDC and includes SMA RF connections as shown.
The NC2501-T is specified for 1 MHz to 1 GHz operation, -5 dBm nominal output level, ±1 dB flatness, and a 50 Ω output impedance. A copy of the manufacturer datasheet is included as the final photo for reference.
This assembly was tested using an Agilent spectrum analyzer. The first group of spectrum analyzer photos shows the output of the complete assembly with the 2-stage RF amplifier connected. Marker readings in the amplified configuration show approximately -18.0 dBm at 500 MHz and approximately -15.3 dBm at 1 GHz.
The final spectrum analyzer photo shows the NoiseCom NC2501-T operating by itself with the amplifier chain bypassed. The marker in that measurement indicates approximately -38.7 dBm at 1.19 GHz.
Comparing the amplified and bypassed measurements demonstrates that the onboard 2-stage amplifier provides substantial gain over the output of the NoiseCom module alone, approximately 15 to 20+ dB depending on frequency and measurement conditions.
Please note that the spectrum analyzer captures were made using different frequency spans and display settings. The traces are provided primarily as evidence of operation and relative gain and should not be interpreted as calibrated performance measurements.
The custom board appears to have been modified for a specific RF test application and incorporates a pair of SMA connectors and a jumper so that you can sample the noiccom output directly bfore the amplifier state the original NoiseCom module. Cosmetic condition is good overall with evidence of engineering rework and development-lab use.
