Up for sale is a fabulous sterling silver item!
This piece is a hairbrush. I don’t know the maker or the pattern. If you do, I’d love to hear from you!
The hairbrush features a woman on the handle dressed in a flowing strapless dress (or bedsheet) reaching for the rose that cupid is offering. The hairbrush is lavishly decorated with blooming roses.
The hairbrush is made in the Art Nouveau style, most likely dating from 1890 to 1910.
The brush measures 9 3/4” long and is 3 1/2” across the widest part. The center area has a script monogram with the letters
“ABB”.
The brush is marked near the handle with the words
“STERLING”
and
“PATD 2000”.
While it might be tempting to assume that the “2000” refers to the year this was made, all signs point to this being an antique item, not newly made to look old. The “2000” most likely refers to a pattern or shape number.
Condition is very good used condition. There are expected signs of use and handling from a sterling item of this vintage. You’ll see minor dings and dents around the edge of the brush and some minor wear on the celluloid that holds the brush bristles. I hope you can see these in the photos.
The bristles are in great shape and firmly attached to the celluloid base. They are solidly held in the brush, not loose or coming out.
Look at the photos carefully to see the extent of the wear.
A fabulous addition to your sterling vanity group!

The invoice sent by eBay uses shipping charges based on their shipping calculator. The eBay shipping calculator is not accurate, so your estimated shipping charge will probably be wrong. We will give you an accurate shipping rate to your delivery address, and will offer shipping choices when applicable.
We accept eBay managed payments, Paypal and traditional methods.
