A superb example of the Mk 11 HSAT (Helmet, Steel, Airborne Troops). This is an original helmet which is believed to have been manufactured post-war, but it is identical to the wartime helmets.
Shell in lightweight manganese steel, finished in dark grey textured paint. The shell is undated and carries no markings. The coating is intact but the paintwork has been lightly scratched/scuffed.
Three-point canvas webbing chinstrap/harness system in good condition. Markings illegible. Strap ends and buckles in brass, indicating a manufacturing date prior to the late 1950s.
Liner in virtually new condition, other than the perished sorbo rubber shock pads. Stamping on leather band reads "C.W.L. 7 3/8 1971". Liner and harness bails secured by three brass nuts and bolts, painted black.
Helmet is complete with a hessian cover and scrim net.
This item has been in my possession since 1977 and I can vouch for its authenticity.
