“The Gruffalo 50p Coin from The Royal Mint - First Release

The very first Gruffalo 50p coin was released in 2019, marking the 20th anniversary of the book's publication. This special coin celebrated the character's initial appearance and featured a beautifully detailed depiction of The Gruffalo as illustrated in the original storybook. As the first coin in the series, it generated immense excitement and sold out rapidly, creating an enthusiastic base for future Gruffalo releases from The Royal Mint. This coin's popularity also set the stage for the Mint to continue creating coins inspired by children's literature.”
