CHINA – Bronze medal, Year of the Rat (Chinese zodiac)

Side 1: stylised rat standing right within a circle, small cartouche with cyclical date in seal script near the tail, ornamental geometric border, characters 中国 (China) at lower right.

Side 2: large character 鼠 (Rat) in archaic script at centre on a textured field, surrounded by twelve panels with the animals of the Chinese zodiac.

Edge: plain, no inscription.

Bronze with dark two-tone patina – Weight 33.9 g – Diameter 50 mm

The medal is not dated in Western numerals. The cartouche probably reads the cyclical year of the Rat (possibly 1984), but I am not able to read the seal script with certainty – please see the close-up photo and judge for yourself. No box or certificate. Condition: very good, original patina, not cleaned, only light handling marks. Please see the photos, which are part of the description. The medal in the pictures is the exact one you will receive.
