This is the 1990 red border reprint version of the original blue border 1987 Team USA baseball set. There are 16 autographs in this set. These are the players selected for Team USA in 1987 who would play in the Pam Am Games leading up to the summer Olympics in 1988. These were also the days when only US college players were allowed to play and pros did not play in the Pan Am Games or the Olympics. That would all change later. There were several big-name players on Team USA, led by Frank Thomas, Jim Abbott, Greg Olsen, and Tino Martinez.

The gem of this set is a fantastic vintage autographed card of Frank Thomas. Slabbed authentic by SGC, this card is a beauty. In the early years, Frank Thomas signed his full name, not just F- T- like he has for many years, so this autograph dates back before Frank's major league career began. I personally obtained this autograph when Frank played at Birmingham in the Southern League. The header of the slab is incorrect. It says 1987 BDK Pan-Am Team USA, but it is actually 1990 BDK. The original 1987 Pan Am Team USA set has blue borders. BDK changed the border color to distinguish the 1990 version from the 1987 version, but SGC got the slab wrong when they slabbed it. I never bothered to have it corrected. This has been in my collection since I obtained the autographs.

This set is complete and has 16 autographs, but scans may only show autographed cards in this set. The set also contains cards signed by some tough signers in their minor league playing days and hard to find players.  Please see scans for players signed in this set.
