On offer: an original (i.e. not a later reproduction) folding antique map in a cover "Cruchley's Reduced Ordnance Map of The Isle of Wight...."  Offered printed on paper and folded into covers.

DATE PRINTED: c.1860. These maps were issued between the mid-1850s and the 1870s. Because George Frederick Cruchley updated his plates constantly to keep up with the rapid expansion of the Victorian railway network, most of these folding pocket maps were deliberately issued without a printed publication date so they would not look obsolete to buyers.

SIZE: The printed area is approximately 37 x 38 cm (14.5 x 15 inches).  Folded into a cover.

PROVENANCE:  Cruchley's Reduced Ordnance folding map of the Isle of Wight was a 19th-century pocket map published by G. F. Cruchley, a prominent map-seller and globe maker located at 81 Fleet Street, London. George Frederick Cruchley often using or reducing earlier plates like Cary's.

TYPE: Antique lithograph printed on paper.

VERSO: There is nothing printed on the reverse side, which is blank.

CONDITION: Good. Please check the scan for any blemishes prior to making your purchase. Virtually all antiquarian paper is subject to some normal aging due to use and time which is not significant unless otherwise stated.  Some splits on folds. Complete without loss.  A respectable example of a scarce map.

AUTHENTICITY: This is an authentic antique map, published at the date stated above. I do not offer reproductions. It is not a modern copy.  The term 'original' when applied to a print means that it was printed at the first or original date of publication; it does not imply that the item is unique.

RETURNS POLICY: I offer a no questions returns policy. All I ask is that you pay return shipping and mail back to me in original condition.
