Item # CM000222
This porcelain figurine captures a wonderfully detailed everyday Rockwell scene, with a young girl kneeling beside a wooden wash tub while washing a long-eared dog. Sculpted soap spills over the rim of the tub, and a small scrub brush rests beside it, giving the piece considerably more character than a simple standing figurine.
The underside identifies the piece as No. 1006 and is marked "(C) Select Collection Limited 1979." It also retains its original Japan origin label. The design is identified as "Girl Washing Dog" in the Norman Rockwell by Select Collection line and has been classified as a retired piece.
The front of the base carries the Norman Rockwell name, while the underside states that the figurine was inspired by his works. The combination of the recognizable subject, numbered design, dated base marking and surviving Japan label makes this example easy to identify within the Select Collection series.
