Rapala Countdown Elite CDE75 GDSPD Gilded Spotted Dog Fishing Lure. Australian Limited Edition.

The Spotted Dog Colour was designed especially for the Australian market in the 1980's in and produced in limited  numbers.  They were proven to be an outstanding trout catcher. More recently they been reprinted and are again only available in Australasia.  Even there they are hard to find and have to be imported to the UK. As a fly tier I can understand why.  Having tied some extraordinarily realistic flies, what did they catch - nothing.  Yet flies which were tied to accentuate triggers did really well. The SPD does just this. More recently they been reprinted and some are again only available in Australia.  Even there they are hard to find and have to be imported to the UK.

Rapala added to the Spotted Dog series with Gilded Elite versions including FE85, CDE75 and CDE55 in the summer of 2025.
