This very rare antique French dairy thermometer, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1900), is a beautifully preserved example of traditional country farmhouse kitchenalia. Hand crafted with a paper scale enclosed in a hand blown glass tube, it features a comprehensive temperature range from -10 to 110 degrees Celsius. The large scale is specifically marked with French annotations for Beurre (Butter) and Fromage (Cheese), allowing historical dairy producers to accurately monitor the critical heat levels required for churning cream or setting curds. The instrument retains its vibrant red weighted bulb and is presented in its original, period-correct green cardboard protective storage tube with metal ends. This specialized kitchen tool is 21.5cm llength and the protective tube is 22cm long and the thermometer is in excellent condition as shown in the video and photographs.
