Up for auction is a charming vintage/antique pocket-style aneroid barometer set within a heavy turned hardwood bezel.
Dial & Display: Features a clear, open-center dial allowing a view of the intricate internal movement and aneroid brass capsule. Printed in classic English Gothic lettering with traditional barometric readings (Stormy, Rain, Change, Fair, Very Dry).
Origin: Marked "Foreign" near the base of the dial, typical of German-manufactured meteorological instruments exported to the UK market in the early-to-mid 20th century.
Construction: Brass bezel casing with front glass, fitted with an adjustable pointer brass set-screw and a top hanging ring for easy wall display.
Condition: Excellent cosmetic condition with a lovely warm patina on the brass and polished finish on the turned wood surround. (Note: Please update with details regarding whether the needle responds to atmospheric pressure changes). No, not working.
