Formationand Structure

The 21st Construction Regiment (21 CR) was established on 29August 1950 in New South Wales as part of the Australian Army Reserve. Itwas initially formed through the "supplementary reserve" scheme,utilizing resources from various government departments to create a reservemilitary capability. The regiment was part of the 5th Brigade andprovided support to the 2nd Division. Its first commanding officer was LieutenantColonel Douglas White, a World War II veteran.

OperationalHistory

Throughout its existence, the 21st Construction Regiment contributedpersonnel to several significant operations, including:

• Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands
• Operation Slipper (in Afghanistan)
• Operation Astute (in East Timor)
