This real photo postcard (RPPC) shows a restaurant, named THE CLIFF, with proprietors standing out front and some of the waiting staff standing inside.

A very close look at the bottom left area of the front glass reveals a name, probably that of the proprietor: a first initial ("M" or "H"?) and a surname, Schreiber or Schreiben.

The postcard was postmarked on July 5, 1917, in Brooklyn, New York, and sent to Mrs. Elliott Peterson/Petersen in Chester, South Dakota. 

After the years the item may show some typical wear.
