This is a striking vintage French ebonised wood standing crucifix displaying traditional religious symbolism. The black ebonised wooden rod cross stands on a turned circular stepped base and has small carved bovine bone caps finishing each end of the crossbeams. It holds a highly detailed silver tone figure of Jesus Christ with a radiant sunburst halo behind his head and a matching INRI scroll plaque at the top. Below his feet, it has a very rare metal skull and crossbones motif, but one of the crossed bones is broken as shown in the photos and revolving video, it is otherwise in good stable vintage condition with a rich dark patina to the wood and clean metalwork. The spindle cross measures 29cm tall, 6cm in diameter at the base, with the central Jesus figure measuring 8cm tall and weighs 129g on the digital scales.
