Recipe book begun in August, 1885 by Mrs. H.N. Crowell. One recipe is written on letterhead of the Old Homestead, West Barnstable, Massachusetts. Many of the recipes are handwritten, there are also many newspaper clippings and sone typed recipes. I think the family kept adding to the cookbook perhaps into the 1930s. Some of the clipped recipes make reference to the Cape and Boston. I think it was perhaps from a Boston area family who summered on the Cape. There are about 100 pages, most with several recipes. Binding is taped inside, several pages are detached, spotting and staining. About what one would expect from a cherished yet hardworking and regularly consulted 140 year old cookbook,
