Antique Japanese embossed and hand-painted leather coin purse/card case, dating to approximately the early 1930s.
The exterior features colorful Japanese landscape scenes worked into the leather, including Mount Fuji and traditional Japanese architecture on one side and a red arched bridge over water on the other.
The dated inscription provides strong period provenance and indicates the purse was already in use or ownership by April 1933. The exact manufacturer and circumstances under which it was originally acquired are unknown.
