Oliver North – U.S. Marine Corps Officer & Iran–Contra Figure – Autograph

Clean signature from Oliver Laurence North (b.1943), the U.S. Marine Corps lieutenant colonel who became the central public face of the Iran–Contra affair during the Reagan administration. North served on the National Security Council, and his role in the covert arms‑to‑Iran / Contra‑funding operation made him one of the most recognisable political figures of the late Cold War. His televised testimony in 1987 created widespread “Ollie Mania,” and although initially convicted on several charges, all were later vacated due to immunity issues.

North went on to a long media career as a commentator and author, and later served as President of the National Rifle Association.

Material connected to Iran–Contra, NSC stationery, or political‑scandal history remains strongly collected, with North occupying a similar space to Watergate‑era figures.

    • One of c.2,500+ items once from the collection or dealer stock of Winifred A Myers (Autographs) Ltd, St Martins Lane, London, evidenced by the quantity of Myers pre-printed envelopes and paper folders and the general ‘presentation’ of the items, many having Myers identification notes in pencil. 

    Winifred Alice Myers (1909 - 1985) served as ABA (Antiquarian Booksellers Assoc) president, 1950-1952. See the ABA website for an extended article on Myers. Myers left her business, in 1985, to Ruth Shepherd, who traded from home until 2004.
