​Up for sale is a functional Stanley No. 25, 10-inch Sliding T-Bevel. This specific example is a documented Type 8, which is historically significant. Introduced around 1941, the Type 8 is defined by wartime material conservation efforts.

​Wartime/Type 8 Characteristics:

Unlike earlier models, this bevel completely eliminated the brass end caps and all internal brass plates to save essential metals for the war effort. The handle ends and slot are plain domestic hardwood, and the pivot hardware uses steel washers, exactly as specified during the WWII production run.

​Condition Report (User/Restoration Candidate):

​Handle: The domestic hardwood stock is solid with no cracks, but has lost approximately 50-60% of its original lacquer. It has dark user stains and fair honest wear.

​Blade: The 10-inch slotted steel blade shows some, dark pitting and surface rust consistent with its age and use. It needs a fair amount of cleaning/restoration to be shiny again. The notched [STANLEY] stamp is still visible near the base of the blade.

​Function: The locking lever mechanism works. It secures the blade at an angle and allows it to slide, but the action is slightly stiff due to oxidation.
