A VERY NICE CofA WATERMARK 5/- GREY & YELLOW KANGAROO VARIETY: “BREAK IN COAST IN BIGHT" - ACSC 46(D)t - PLATE POSITION R39 - 2025 CV$150 (UNCHANGED FROM 2013)
The CofA Watermark printing of the 5/- Grey & Yellow Kangaroo was made in June 1932 and issued in December 1932 (in Melbourne). They were printed by John Ash off a single Plate in sheets of 120 (each in two panes of 60 with 10 horizontal rows of 6 stamps). These marsupials were used to 'make-up' the higher telegram, parcel, airmail and bulk postage charges of the day. There were four printings totalling 960,000 stamps. This variety condition is listed as:

This variety recurs at position R39 ... that is ... it is the 39th STAMP on the RIGHT PANE of the single '120-on' Plate used for printing this issue in Australia from June 1932. This example is a beauty with great colour and a very clean CTO CDS postmark (full gum at back lightly toned). It is beautifully centered (a tad left) with very good perforations. A lovely DUTY PLATE Variety marsupial for that CofA specialists’ collection. The reference scans are from the 2025 ACSC.
