Vintage Montana Silversmiths Eagle Western Belt Buckle – Gold Electroplate

An impressive vintage Western belt buckle by Montana Silversmiths, featuring a large raised American bald eagle with its wings spread across an extensively decorated two-tone background.

The sculptural silver-coloured eagle stands prominently above textured gold-coloured fields and ornate Western-style scroll engraving, with the design framed by a contrasting twisted rope-style border.

The reverse carries the Montana Silversmiths maker's stamp and is marked:

MONTANA SILVERSMITHS
24 GOLD
ELECTRO
PLATE
COLUMBUS MONT.

The buckle retains its traditional hinged belt loop and fastening stud to the reverse.

The marking identifies the gold-coloured finish as electroplate. It is not being represented as solid gold, and no specific precious-metal content is claimed for the silver-coloured portions.

Condition:

Good vintage used condition overall with general surface wear from previous use and handling.

The reverse has noticeable scratching, rubbing and areas of wear to the plated finish.

The decorated front presents particularly well overall, retaining strong raised eagle detail, ornate scrollwork and contrasting gold and silver-coloured finishes.
