Attractive 9ct gold & enamel Scottish football medal won by Jock Buchanan playing for St Mirren FC as they won the Paisley Charity Cup in the season 1919 - 20.
The Final of the 1919 - 20 Paisley Charity Cup was held at St Mirren Park on 15th May 1920 with St Mirren beating Abercorn 2 - 0 to lift the trophy.
The front of the medal depicts the Scottish Lion Rampant on a raised shield picked out in red enamel. It is embossed:
"PAISLEY CHARITY CUP 1920"
The obverse is engraved:
"WON BY ST. MIRREN F.C. J. BUCHANAN"

John "Jock" Buchanan (25th February 1894 - 3rd October 1947): A Scottish professional footballer who played for Johnstone, St Mirren, Greenock Morton, Rangers, Linfield (Belfast) & East Stirlingshire.
One of the most noted Scottish footballers of his generation, Jock Buchanan was in the Greenock Morton team which won the Scottish Cup for the only time in their history in the season 1921 - 22, beating Rangers 1 - 0 in the Final. He must have impressed Rangers that day as they signed him up and he went on to win two more Scottish Cups with them as well as four consecutive League Championships and a number of other trophies.
Jock played for St Mirren between 1919 & 1921 where he played 48 League games, scoring 17 goals before signing for Greenock Morton.
