Attractive autograph of Pat Phoenix (1923–1986) — the iconic Elsie Tanner from Coronation Street — signed boldly in dark ink on a pink slip, with her characteristic addition “Elsie” beneath the signature. A strong, display‑ready example from one of the most collected figures in British television history.

This slip comes from a two‑sided autograph album leaf, with an additional unidentified signature on the reverse.

  • Patricia Phoenix (Nov 1923 – Sep 1986) was an English actress who became one of the first sex symbols of British television through her role as Elsie Tanner, an original cast member of Coronation Street, a role which she portrayed from its first episode in 1960 to 1973, and again from 1976 until she quit the role in 1984. In Elsie Tanner, she is credited with creating one of the most famous characters in British soap history.

    • One of c.2,500+ items once from the collection or dealer stock of Winifred A Myers (Autographs) Ltd, St Martins Lane, London, evidenced by the quantity of Myers pre-printed envelopes and paper folders and the general ‘presentation’ of the items, many having Myers identification notes in pencil. 

    Winifred Alice Myers (1909 - 1985) served as ABA (Antiquarian Booksellers Assoc) president, 1950-1952. See the ABA website for an extended article on Myers. Myers left her business, in 1985, to Ruth Shepherd, who traded from home until 2004.
