1900's Brass Crown Wall Pocket Hearth Hand Crafted Welsh Folk Art Antique 937g

This is a single, hand crafted, heavy-gauge brass crown wall pocket with a good level of folk-art detail. Dating from the early 1900's and possibly Welsh. It's age is indicated by its weight of 937g and its construction which is far more substantial than the more later models which were mass produced.

Hand-Brazing: The thick, uneven, silvery-grey line running along the entire curved seam is lead or pewter solder applied by hand.

Irregular Sheet Work: The copper-toned base plate shows manual cutting and fitting, which is typical of workshop pieces rather than factory-stamped assembly lines.

Natural Oxidation: The dark, mottled tarnish and crusty green verdigris in the tight corners take decades to form naturally.

No makers marks which again is indicative of when and where it was made.

I have not attempted to clean it up so it retains its age related patina.
