Large Letter C Postcard NPG Oranotypie Edwardian Lady Cuba 1910

Charming hand-tinted photo-montage postcard from the celebrated NPG (Neue Photographische Gesellschaft) Oranotypie large-letter initial series, depicting the letter 'C' wreathed in ivy with an elegantly dressed Edwardian lady in a flowing pink gown posed in a garden, a small child with a flag visible beyond. Copyrighted 1904 and bearing series number 195, this example was sent in 1910 with a tender Spanish inscription to 'Srita. Caridad Martínez' in Matanzas, Cuba — the sender (signed Harmonia) noting beautifully that 'C' is the initial of her name and of the most sublime virtue, 'Caridad' (Charity).

Condition

Written in Spanish and addressed to Srita. Caridad Martínez, Manzano 118, Matanzas, Cuba, dated 8-1-1910; no stamp or postmark visible, likely carried in an envelope. Front shows mild overall toning and light scattered foxing consistent with age; hand-tinted image remains clear and colorful throughout.
