Pair of Antique Brass Fire Dogs / Andirons

A beautiful pair of antique cast brass fire dogs in the elegant Louis XV Rococo Revival style, dating to the late Victorian or early Edwardian period (circa 1880–1910).

Featuring richly cast scrolling acanthus foliage, shell motifs and flowing Rococo curves, these fire dogs make an impressive decorative feature for a period fireplace and would equally suit Victorian, Edwardian, French country or traditional interiors.

The brass has developed a lovely aged patina over many years, giving them plenty of character while retaining attractive highlights to the raised decoration.

They are substantial castings with solid rear supports and display particularly well whether used in a working fireplace or simply as decorative fireplace ornaments.
