Interesting & collectable 9ct gold & enamel football medal presented to A.F.C. Waters of St Mirren FC in recognition of him holding the presidency of the Scottish 2nd XI FA.

The medal appears to have been of a bespoke design as the front incorporates the initials of the medal recipient "AW". Picked out in dark blue enamel it is embossed:

"SCOTTISH 2ND XI FOOTBALL ASSOCN."

The obverse is engraved:

"A.F.C. WATERS OF ST. MIRREN F.C. President, 1962 - 63"

9ct Gold Medal: Weight: 16.0 gm. Width: 28 mm. Height (excluding ring): 33 mm. Hall Mark: Birmingham 1962. Maker's Mark: Fattorini & Sons.

A.F.C. Waters: From my research it appears that the medal recipient was a long time senior administrator with St Mirren. As can be seen from the engraving on the medal he was with St Mirren in 1962 - 63 when he served as President of the Scottish 2nd XI FA and he went on to serve as Chairman of St Mirren in the season 1971 - 72.

Summary: As can be seen from the photos this appears to be a unique medal presented to a high ranking administrator with St Mirren FC with an impressive weight of 16 grams of 9ct gold. Good luck!
