Beautiful handmade Hmong embroidered story cloth / textile panel featuring an elaborate scene filled with animals, birds, flowering trees and landscape imagery.

The central hand-embroidered scene includes elephants, tigers, peacocks, bears, deer/antelope, wild boar, rhinoceros, cattle, birds and other animals among colorful flowers and trees, with mountains and a rising or setting sun in the background.

The embroidery is surrounded by striking blue, gray and cream geometric patchwork borders, including rows of pieced triangles. The combination of detailed figurative embroidery and geometric textile work makes this a wonderful piece of traditional Southeast Asian fiber art.

The reverse shows the handwork and construction of the embroidery and piecing.

Measurements: approximately 19” high x 19.5” wide

Good pre-owned condition with age/use consistent with a handmade textile. Please see photographs for the best assessment of condition and construction.

A beautiful piece to display as wall art, frame as textile art, incorporate into a pillow or other textile project, or add to a collection of Hmong and Southeast Asian folk art.
