I am pleased to offer this large original Paul Gauguin portrait plaque, medal. This beautiful portrait plaque has a raised side profile of the famous French artist, painter, sculptor from Paris. Portrait is inspired by a self portrait. The backside is inspired by a famous nude oil painting created among Tahiti tribe’s young ladies.

Made and signed by a famous Hungarian sculptor and medal artist Farkas Istvan. See his initials beside Gauguin shoulder.

Farkas Istvan ( 1915 - 2005 ). Hungarian painter, sculptor, medal artist from Debrecen. Self developed artist. He has some public statues in Hungary but he was an important medal artist too. A book published on his medal artworks in Germany.

This antique portrait medal is in very good condition for its age, showing a dark patina and some green discolorization.
