Beautiful matched pair of antique Japanese Komai-style damascene miniature vases, dating from the late Meiji to early Taisho period (circa 1900–1930).

These miniature bud vases feature a multi-faceted geometric body made of solid copper/brass metal. The surface is treated with a traditional dark, patinated background and intricately hand-etched with a gold-toned nautical motif depicting multi-masted sailing ships in a harbor with powerlines above them. To touch, the etching feels raised above the black background. Some metal bending on the bottom and top rim due to age.
