A rare and exceptional vintage British studio glass set comprising a trumpet vase and a matching perfume (scent) bottle complete with its original stopper, manufactured in Wales by the Laugharne Glass studio, circa 1980s.
The transparent deep cobalt blue glass was hand-blown by the studio's artisans. A thick sterling silver overlay was then mechanically applied, followed by meticulous hand engraving to define the veins of the leaves and the delicate detail of the flowering wild rose branches.
The Welsh workshop, Laugharne Glass of Carmarthenshire, established during the late twentieth century, became internationally recognised for its specialised technique combining hand-blown coloured art glass with richly detailed hallmarked sterling silver overlays. The studio produced premium vases, perfume bottles and other decorative objects in relatively limited quantities before permanently closing following the death of the firm's principal master glassblower around 2010. The workshop's own literature described its silver overlay as exceptionally thick and of a quality surpassing many nineteenth-century examples.
The solid cobalt glass ball stopper is original to the bottle and retains its matching sterling silver floral overlay. The vase also preserves its original circular factory paper label reading "Hand Made by Laugharne Glass" together with the workshop's historic telephone number.
The two-piece ensemble survives in pristine vintage condition, completely free from chips, cracks, repairs or lifting to the sterling silver overlay.
