Vintage ashtray. I’m not familiar with this makers mark (most likely European). Searching online, it says it is Joralberg, but a more detailed search says no such company exists. I’ve seen this mark on restaurant and hotel ashtrays before – if someone knows the maker, I would appreciate learning new information.
This ashtray is from the former Lello Ristorante in New York City. The colors of the ashtray are white with brown lettering and bands.
Lello Ristorante was a celebrated fine-dining Italian restaurant located at 65 East 54th Street in Manhattan, New York City. Opened in the early 1970s by Lello Arpaia, the restaurant helped pioneer upscale, authentic Italian cuisine in New York. It became a staple of the city's dining scene, frequently featured in New York Magazine's dining guides throughout the 1980s for its formal atmosphere and specialties like spaghettini primavera and scaloppine Castellana. Lello's legacy also lives on through his daughter, Donatella Arpaia, who became a prominent restaurateur.
Good condition. No chips or cracks. There are some light gray marks around the top of the ashtray I was unable to remove with careful cleaning. No scuffing or staining inside the ashtray. No tar residue. The base shows some general table and age wear. Please see the pictures for more information and to help with your decision.
