Just before Christmas in 1843, Charles Dickens wrote the wondrous story of A Christmas Carol. Its message has touched and warmed the hearts of millions each holiday season since. The master ceramists of Royal Doulton have recreated a part of this story on this first issue Royal Doulton Bas Relief Plaque.

The cold breath of winter, the caroler's warm clothing and the quaint city sidewalk are masterfully recreated in deep sculptured relief, vibrant colors and authentic detail by the world famous craftsmen of Royal Doulton.

The 1972 Royal Doulton Bas Relief Plaque is an indi-vidual work of art. Its edition is extremely limited because of the individual skills and artistry required for each piece.
