Offered is an original bronze souvenir medal commemorating the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition, better known as the St. Louis World's Fair. This historic exposition celebrated the centennial of the 1803 Louisiana Purchase and remains one of the most significant World's Fairs ever held in the United States.
The obverse features conjoined portraits of Thomas Jefferson, whose administration negotiated the Louisiana Purchase, and Napoleon Bonaparte, who authorized its sale to the United States. The reverse depicts a map of the Louisiana Territory with the inscriptions "1803," "1,000,000 Square Miles," and "$15,000,000," commemorating one of the most important land acquisitions in American history.
