“Catching Crocodiles/A Monkey Hunt.” Pathescope 28mm silent film. Includes two subjects on a single reel.

28 mm. Pathescope silent film, on a single reel, on cellulose acetate “safety” stock, made for the Pathé KOK projector, the first home video format which existed circa 1912-1918. These were rented out by Pathé to owners of the KOK projector.

The film stock is in remarkably good condition considering this is well over 100 years old. The film stock is sturdy and supple. There is at least one break in the film. Unknown if complete. Sold strictly As Is. It does have a “vinegar” odor which does not seem to correlate to any extensive degree of degradation. Obviously the aim would likely be to transfer and digitize this film. We have only rolled a bit out onto a light board for photography purposes which is why the images are a bit blurred. The survival status of this film is unknown.
