Fresh from the M&K workshop, is this…..
Late 18thC Armstrong Pattern Cast Iron British Naval Signal or Shot Cannon c.1780
This superb naval antique came to us in a rather tired state and missing one of its original wheels.
We have sympathetically cleaned and waxed the cast iron barrel with its Armstrong pattern cascabel and cylindrical trunnions, and cleared the 21” long (to touch hole), bore of any debris. It sits on its original carriage and 3 wheels but have manufactured a 4th from pine to the exact specifications of the others. The iron metalwork is original, which has also been cleaned & painted along with the carriage, in RN ship side grey.
The barrel has what we think, is an Elephant makers mark or it could just be the remnants of a King George III cypher. Overall, the barrel is 25”L with a bore of 1.25” with the carriage measuring 15”L x 14.5”W including the wheel axel’s.
It’s extremely heavy so shipping will not be cheap, but it will be worth it!
Local delivery, UK & international shipping available with collections welcome too
