The Bogie Man: Chinatoon four-issue mini-series by John Wagner, Alan Grant, and Robin Smith (1993) from Fat Man Press, in VF/NM condition.
The Bogie Man is Francis Forbes Clunie, a Scottish psychosis patient who resembles Humphrey Bogart and believes he is a hard-boiled noir detective. Each story revolves around Clunie's construction of a fictional case in which only he can solve the mystery. The title was initially pitched to DC Comics but they declined.
The Bogie Man: The Chinese Syndrome was serialised in Toxic! (1991) illustrated in colour by Cam Kennedy, but was left uncompleted after co-creator Smith objected. The Chinese Syndrome was revamped, redrawn in black and white by Smith and completed as Chinatoon (1993), with Clunie, escaped once again, believing he is investigating a Chinese organised criminal gang in the Glasgow underworld.
