The typewriter in the photos is the one that you'll recieve. As you can see it's in outstanding condition. Its been fully tested and serviced - it's in such good condition it could easily pass for being brand new despite being over half a century old!

This is the Olympia Monica mechanical typewriter - this model was built in Great Britain (most were made in West Germany so this is quite a rare model) from 1969 to 1978. This is an early 70's example with the English language keyboard. A very advanced mid level portable machine in its day. It's a beautiful piece of industrial art as it is so it would make a great display item in any shop, club or in the right house....however, these old typewriters are really fun to play around with and as this one is in such good condition I hope it will be used for it's intended purpose and you get to pen that novel you've been planning on writing all these years!

This particular example is something special.  You can pick up a broken one for as little as £25 but to be honest it wouldn't be much fun.  Even though these are extremely tough machines, over the decades most have been thrown around and neglected. This one obviously had a very careful owner who hardly ever used it and then stored it properly  - it's near perfect!

One issue I've noticed is with the case. It has two tabs to seal the cover to the base - these are missing. As such, whilst its still fully functional as a protective case you can't really use it as a portable model as the lid isn't secure - please keep this in mind before you make a decision. Those plastic tabs were poorly designed so it's quote common for them to be absent - the thin plastic wasn't designed to last fifty years so usually they become brittle and fall away. Obviously, if you plan on keeping it on a desknthos is irrelevant.

Condition

This is the important part! The typewriter itself is close to mint. We've given it a basic check and oil but being honest it didn't even need that. We sell a lot of these old, mechanical machines and this one really is outstanding. I'd give it a 9/10 (it would get a 10/10 if the case tabs were present)

Trending price for a fully tested, fully functional Monica in mint condition like this one  is between £90 - £150 on Etsy so grab a serious bargain! (To be honest everything is more expensive on Etsy!)
