We call this a transitional reel because we believe this reel had a very specific manufacture year - 1958 - this reel retains the original characteristics of the early model 33 but rather than brass gearing and round handle knobs this reel has steel gearing and flat handle knobs. These details confirm the manufacture date of the reel and make it somewhat special in the zebco collecting world.
This particular example is in excellent condition overall. The reel shows minor signs of use wear with the black body paint being almost completely in tact (we are not paint experts so we will not rule out this reel being repainted at some time - we have not repainted the reel) - The only cosmetic blemish is the corrosion on the a/r knob.
Mechanically the reel is in excellent condition. All features of the reel function as designed. This is an outstanding example of the model and carries some significance as a collectible piece. This reel is ready to go fishing again.
