Lovely original Victorian photograph album containing 30 Carte de Visite (CDV) photographic cards, dating predominantly from the late 19th century.

The album contains a fascinating collection of 30 original period photographs, featuring Victorian men, women and children of various ages. The portraits provide a wonderful glimpse into Victorian fashions, hairstyles and traditional studio photography of the period.

One particularly appealing photograph shows an older gentleman seated alongside his dog, adding extra character and interest to the collection.

The album itself has a very attractive hand-painted floral front cover, decorated with colourful roses and flowers against a dark background, together with a decorative gilt-effect spine.

The people pictured are unfortunately unidentified.

A charming collection which has remained together in its original album

Contains 30 photographic cards in total.

Condition

In antique used condition with age-related wear throughout. The outer album has surface scratches, rubbing, marks and edge wear, with considerable rubbing and loss to the decorative finish on the spine.

The album clasp is missing, although the clasp fitting/attachment points remain.

Internally there is age toning, foxing, spotting and general handling wear to the pages, together with some wear around the photograph openings.

The 30 photographic cards vary in condition, with some showing fading, foxing, spotting and age-related marks, whilst others remain particularly clear and well defined considering their age.
