Chinese carved green jadeite jade vessel/vase/ urn with lid, suspended within a custom-made shaped wooden display frame.

This is a classic Chinese export jadeite jade lidded hanging vase (or hu). It is an intricately hand-carved vessel, featuring suspended chains and a bespoke wooden stand, were highly prized in the 19th and early 20th centuries and are often sought by collectors of Asian art. The vase features masterful openwork carving. The handles and suspended chains are meticulously carved from a single piece of jade rather than being assembled later. This vessel incorporate auspicious motifs such as dragons and phoenixes, symbolizing powerful, grace and fortune. While archaic in style, many identical hanging vases found on the antiques market date from the late Qing dynasty (19th century) to the Republic period (early 20th century). This beautiful set was acquired from a local shop in San Francisco in late 2000s, and we are not sure when it was created.

The fitted wood frame is custom made that perfectly fit the Jade, as it is specifically designed to bear the weight of the suspended vase, lid, and chains.

The measurements for the Jade is about 6” tall and 7” wide. The wood frame is about 17.25" x 9.75" x 4.75". Presented on a carved wooden plinth bearing an affixed inventory label (written in Chinese characters).

Overall great condition. There might be minor chips but not noticeable to us. The top of the wood frame was repaired. We did not modify or did any work on this piece/set. Please check out the pictures carefully and let us know if you have any questions.
