This black wool morning coat or jacket and vest hail from the famed Algonquin Hotel in New York City. The original hanger it came on said Algonquin Hotel, so it is on this information I am basing the provenance, and unfortunately I have misplaced the hanger. I imagine Dorothy Parker and smoke filled rooms with this jacket and vest combo. The exterior of the coat and vest are both in very nice condition, as always with vintage lined garments it is the lining that shows wear and this situation is no different: the satin lining inside the vest is torn as are the interior inset sleeve linings set on the morning coat. The label inside the morning coat says Rubin and Berman, New York and New Haven.
Measurements are as follows:
Vest:
Chest pit to pit measures 18.5"
Shoulder to hem is about 21.5"
Jacket
pit to pit measures: 20"
Shoulder to hem of sleeve measures about 25.5"
Shoulder to shoulder measures 17.5" across.
It just fits me, a 5'6" female and my husband, same height and weights 158. He says it is around a 38 mens suit fwtw. I can confirm that is in very nice condition, the wool is lovely and may have a little bit of cashmere or something soft in it.
