CHINESE PAINTING ON SILK ~ CUSTOM FRAME~ SILK BROCADE MATTE~ SHAN SHUI LANDSCAPE

This traditional East Asian artwork features a serene Shan shui (mountain-water) landscape painting, characterized by towering, misty green peaks and traditional architecture. It highlights a scholar or traveler standing at the bottom, gazing toward a path that winds up into the mountain.

Subject: The painting features a lone figure in traditional blue robes walking toward misty, monumental green mountains and ancient gnarled trees.

Composition: It uses a classic vertical format, balancing negative space (mist) with detailed natural elements like rocky cliffs and a small temple nestled in the peaks.

Details: In the upper right corner, there are East Asian characters (calligraphy) signature and a red seal (chop mark), which are typical signatures in classical Chinese ink wash and scroll paintings

Very Good, vintage, antique condition.  No damage to the artwork or silk brocade matte.  Custom frame.  Chinese Shan Shui painting on silk with custom silk brocade matte and a custom, gold-toned bamboo frame under non-glare glass.  It appears to be executed in gouache paint on silk. Silk shows overall yellowing from age, nothing that distracts from the ambiance of the painting, but it is there.  I do not know the age on this piece.  I have had it for 30 years and purchased it from an antique store in Lawrenceville, GA.  This piece is signed in the upper right corner.   This Chinese painting on silk is clean.  The frame is in terrific condition and so is the silk matte around the painting. 

Total measurements including the frame are 19-1/4" x 13-1/4" in size.  The image area measures 15-1/2" x 9-1/2" in size.  We are open to offers.
